Dutch Butter Cake

Boterkoek is a traditional Dutch recipe, that reminds me very much of a soft buttery shortbread. The key ingredient of course is butter, that means in order to make the perfect butter cake it needs good quality European butter, like Kerrygold, Plugra, Lurpak etc. It’s a simple, straight forward recipe and very rich so you only need a small piece but goes perfect with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate!

Dutch Meatball Soup

The Dutch are known for their soups.  They usually eat soup at every meal, whether it’s a light broth on Sunday with their meal or a hearty soup during the week as their meal, soup is very common at the Dutch table.  I had a hard time deciding which Dutch soup to make with such a variety to choose from but this Meatball soup got my attention because of all the vegetables in it and it also looked very quick and easy to make.  It’s very delicious but I would use less Nutmeg than what it calls for as it gave an unusual taste to the meat that I’m
