A Full English Breakfast

Suzy Rhodes Sat, 02/21/2015 - 12:32

This is the famous full English breakfast.  When staying at a Bed and Breakfast or hotel in England, this is the typical breakfast that is offered.  Although, nowadays they also offer some healthy choices too like fruit, yoghurt, cereal etc.   The back bacon’ and sausage is hard to come by in America, my local British shop sells back bacon but rarely the pork sausages, so I had to make do with what I could find.  Everything is pretty much fried, sometimes people like to fry their bread too, but usually you’ll find it toasted only and maybe som

Creamy Pototoes

There’s nothing like creamy potatoes on cold winter days, it just seems to warm you up inside and out.  The Irish are famous for their potatoes and make a lot of delicious recipes with them.  A creamy potato dish is an Irish classic; however I’ve adapted it somewhat ~ instead of using whole cream and half and half I use sour cream and cream of chicken soup then pair it with left over ham. I’ve been feeding my family of seven this dish for over 25 years and it’s still a winner!

Swiss Chocolate-Berry Cake

This cake is to die for.  I love how European cakes are not as sweet as American cakes. The frosting and berries on top of this cake is just the right combination for a delicious dessert.  Enjoy!

This cake makes for 9 decent size slices baked in an 8 x 8 baking dish.

Dutch Meatball Soup

The Dutch are known for their soups.  They usually eat soup at every meal, whether it’s a light broth on Sunday with their meal or a hearty soup during the week as their meal, soup is very common at the Dutch table.  I had a hard time deciding which Dutch soup to make with such a variety to choose from but this Meatball soup got my attention because of all the vegetables in it and it also looked very quick and easy to make.  It’s very delicious but I would use less Nutmeg than what it calls for as it gave an unusual taste to the meat that I’m

Nutella Banana Cookies

Today is ‘WORLD NUTELLA DAY’.  I didn’t even know that existed until recently – who would have thought that Nutella would have its own special day!  So of course I just had to whip up a Nutella recipe for you – what can I say, all you chocolate lovers can now celebrate Nutella with me.

This recipe is actually a chocolate chip and oats cookie recipe I was given from a friend about 20 some years ago – I just added Nutella and bananas to it. Perfect!
